Golden Milk - All the rage now!
Ingredients:
1/8 teaspoon turmeric
1/2 cup water
8 ounces milk - can be cow, soy or almond
2 tablespoons raw almond oil
Honey to taste
1 cardamom pod (optional)
Cooking Instructions:
Simmer turmeric in water until it forms a nice paste. Suggested cooking time is 8 minutes, you can add more water as necessary. Meanwhile, bring milk to a boil with the almond oil. As soon as it boils, remove from heat. Combine the two mixtures using a blender if desired. Add honey to taste. The cardamom may be cooked with the turmeric for added flavor.
Note that you can prepare larger quantities of paste as it keeps in the refrigerator for up to 40 days. The general ratio of turmeric to water is 1 part turmeric to 4 parts water.
Yogi Tea
This is best made 2 quarts at a time.
2 quarts water
15 whole cloves – for nervous system
20 black peppercorns – blood purifier
3 sticks of cinnamon – sugar metabolism and bones
20 whole cardamon (I sub. ¼ teas if using powdered), if using whole, split the pods first – for the colon
8 ginger slices (1/4” thick, no need to peel) – for digestion
½ teas. Black tea leaves or 1 tea bag – acts as an alloy for all ingrid. producing a new chemical structure, which makes the tea a healthful and delicious drink.
Milk and honey to taste
Bring 2 quarts of water to boil. Add cloves and boil one minute. Next, add cardamon, peppercorns, cinnamon and fresh ginger root. Cover and boil for at least 30 minutes. For best flavor, cover and simmer 1 to 3 hours! When ready, remove from heat, add black tea and let cool. Strain tea. When ready to drink, add soy or dairy milk and sweeten to taste with honey, maple syrup or sugar. You can enjoy without adding the black tea as well.
